Exam Day

Today was Day 3 of CLS Training. The morning started off running with practical field exercises combining everything we learned into a simulated real-world situation. As usual I seemed to end up having to move the largest guy in our group (weighed literally two me). The scenario was definitely an eye opener, especially when we were periodically told how much time had passed. CLS work is fast paced, but yet seemed to go by slower than I would have expected. I guess working in television I shouldn't be too surprised about how much got done in such a short time, but I was.

After our training situations we reconvened in the classroom for a game show styled review of the previous days' lessons. After that was lunch break, followed by our final exam. The exam was much easier than I was expecting and I only missed one question for a total score of 97.5%. I was quite happy, as I was honestly expecting to miss a few more than I did. Don't get me wrong though as I am not complaining at all!

To add to the good feel of the day, I got Co-Co Puffs! In addition to that I got home-made chocolate chip cookies!!! Past unit members are awesome, as they know exactly what to put in care packages.

On a possibly bad, yet still cool, note I finally got my body armor tonight. I was feeling naked without it, and even with the new side plates it doesn't seem to feel as heavy as what we had for training at Camp Dodge. The side plates almost make it comfortable as they help balance out the weight of the vest. Being the little geek that I am I already have all my pouches and various gadgets put on it.

Tomorrow is our final day of CLS Training, and the field exercises sounds like it is going to be quite realistic. I'm not sure if I'll get a chance to shoot video or stills but I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Either way I'm sure I'll have a lot to write about afterward.

Until then, everyone be safe.
