Day 2 of HET Training, and it rocked!Yesterday we started HET (Heavy Equipment Transport) training. As I've mentioned before the HET is the vehicles we'll be operating in theatre and for many of us this is the first training we have had on them. Its also the first time that many of us have ever been behind the wheel of a HET while operating it. I have to say the handling was quite better than I expected. For being a larger vehicle it drives a lot like a regular pick-up. Well, a regular pick-up that sits rather high, but a pick-up all the same. I'm curious to find out tomorrow just how well the trailer handles. Given that the majority of the trailer axles turn, and our instructors say you don't have to worry about turning wide like with our 915's, I'm looking forward to finding out just how well the trailer handling is going to be.
There's a lot of preparation set-up for a HET, but I've been told once the set-up is completed the HET rides like a Cadillac. Guess I'll be finding out soon.
I have a video made up that my buddy RJ shot of me driving the HET, but for some reason once again Blogger is not wanting to upload it. As soon as I can get it posted I will.
Until then, everyone be safe.
