Rumors

Not going to dignify them by repeating what's been said but the last few days the rumors about unit members have been flying. This pisses me off because the people who start them don't seem to give a damn about the affects rumors can have. One little joke can quickly turn into a monstrous issue. I've been the unlucky subject of one lately and in just a few hours the results of months of work went out the window because a person back home heard what was being said and didn't know what to think due to being new to the whole military life and being the person back home. One of the worst parts is the first two people I heard the rumor from are of high enough rank and experience to know better than to even joke about such a thing.

I would like to remind everyone, military and civilian alike, that before they say or repeat anything they've heard to stop for a moment and ask themselves if its something that truly is worth repeating and is it any of their business to be talking about it in the first place. Simple words can have very big results in peoples' lives. Especially at a time when the unit departing is closer than it once was (still no date yet), we've been gone for a while so concerns are on the rise, and people are stressed about the unit not being home with loved ones for the holidays.

I apologize for not having much else to write about tonight. Right now I'm still upset over the results of a rumor less than a day old.

Everyone be safe, and think before you speak.
