- The word "motor pool" causes thoughts of suicide.
- The word "Tampa" doesn't remind you of the Buccaneers.
- You can drive through a serpentine at 40 mph while peeing in a bottle.
- "Small arms fire!" means grab your camera.
- You've worn the same pair of ACU's for 5 days straight.
- You've seen a herd of FOBBITS grazing in a chow hall.
- All your movies are bootleg.
- You've been to every Iraqi shop between Kuwait and Turkey.
- You've ever been addicted to RIPIT!
- An iPod is acceptable ear protection.
- You know that the "Italian Bridge" is NOT in Italy.
- Your Maintenance BUSTS MORE NUTS THAN RON JEREMY and TURNS MORE SCREWS THAN SWISHA HOUSE!!!
Sorry, just a bit of Corps pride there. Now for an explanation of some terms:
A motor pool is where we park our vehicles.
Tampa is one of the main roads in Iraq.
A serpentine is the barriers arranged in front of an access gate to a military post to prevent vehicles from speeding through and possibly blowing up on purpose.
ACU's are what the military calls our current uniforms.
FOBBIT is a term used to describe people who never leave base and have comfy life-styles while deployed. They are generally looked down upon by those of us who do actually leave post and risk being injured/killed.
RIPIT! is an energy drink similar to Red Bull that the Army actually issues to us.
So there you have yet another glimpse into military humor/life. I got the list from a popular t-shirt that they sell down here in Kuwait...still need to get me one.
Be safe!
