One of the bigger things to get used to in barracks life is being around a larger than normal number of people. One really doesn't have any actual privacy, but that's to be expected. The problems, if any, usually arise at night after lights out. For starters, you have to take into consideration that we all have varied times for when we like to go to sleep. Those of us who do go to bed before lights out usually just cover our heads and drift off to sleep. Then there are those who like to stay up past lights out. For the most part people do pretty good about keeping the noise down, using headphones for their electronic devices, taking their cell phone conversations outside, and being sure not to slam the door if they use the latrine.
One thing we don't always have control over though is snoring...which is all that is on the above video. Take that snoring, multiply it by about 30 or so, and you get what an average night sounds like in our barracks. Most of us are able to block it out, and I do believe we have all been guilty of us at least once or twice since arriving at Camp Dodge...so its all good.
One thing most of us would like to change about nights in the barracks, but we can't, is to make them last a bit longer. No matter when you get to sleep it seems like the lights are back on and its time for morning PT (physical training) a moment later. Oh well, we signed up for it. Now if they only had hot coffee waiting for us at our bedsides...

Hello all! Hope everyone had a great weekend. Brother, do I know what you mean about the snoring! My son-in-law is probably the worst! LOL!!!! Love you Mike!
Have a great week everyone------
Till we meet again! Mom Christians
I can handle the snoring, if it wasn't for the springs diggin in my back. I've slept on the floor twice, because it was more comfortable.
Thanks for the comment about the leadership, or didn't that include me?
