Words

Words can be powerful things at times. They can bring us laughter, joy, tears, and pain. Nothing can change a person's mood as quickly as a spoken word, and nothing can have as lasting of an effect as a written word read over and over again.

A mispoken word can have devastating effects, change an outlook, a relationship, possibly even history. Often a mis-written word can cause an issue to be re-visited continually, for the written word can last forever.

As much power as words have though, they are just that: words. They really have no substance other than that which we give them. As politicians often show us, one can say words all they want, but it won't change anything. Actions are often said to speak louder than words, and it has been my observations that this is true. For without deeds to back up what is said, words (whether good or bad) are simply meaningless...even if said in anger or love.

Unfortunately when one is half a world away from home and those they love, backing words up is often times difficult, and one needs to choose their words carefully. When words are all one has, it is important to take into consideration that the words said to someone important could very well be the last ones. When there may not be a tomorrow, today is the only one that matters. As experience has shown some of us, you never really know which time you see someone could be the last.

Everyone be safe, and those are not just words.

I totally agree with you...words are very powerful and also the lack of words have a powerful meaning also. I made a promise to myself quite a few years ago after I lost my dad that those who were important in my life would know it because you never know when the words you speak to someone may be the last ever. Until we speak again stay safe!
