Higher Education

So the Army has decided that just shy of six years to the day of my last promotion it is finally time for me to make another attempt at attending the professional development course needed for my next promotion. I can't complain about the length of time it has taken as I did have the court-ordered break in service for almost two years. I do however find it ironic that the Army doesn't believe in Grandfather clauses. Although I'm sure my chain of command would probably say that's a good thing (at least in my case).

I have mixed feelings about attending school while over here. Primarily because it limits access with back home at a difficult time. Partially because I'm just not sure if I have it in me anymore to endure two weeks of overly-enforced regulations and other things that I usually consider B.S. given our location and situation. Granted some of the stuff is beneficial, including the course in general, but sometimes I wonder about all the sheep and camel show things that go on over here (we can't keep pets so dog and pony show just doesn't seem as applicable of a term).

I have no doubt however that I will complete the course and be a better soldier for it. I just dislike disruptions in the normal routine anymore. Maybe I'm just getting old.

One an upside in life, going through the stats counter on the blog I have discovered that at least a portion of the events of Operation Groundhog Day Turn Around were read by someone at the following organizations: The Pentagon, CENTCOM, and the US State Dept. Kinda' cool if you ask me.

Hope the following two weeks go well for everyone, I'll be back on here around mid-August.

Be safe.

Keep up the good work...remember when you didn't even think you would reach 10,000 and now you have important people at The Pentagon, CENTCOM, and the US State Dept. Kinda' cool isn't what I would say I would say that was way cool!!! I'm going to miss your posts the next couple of weeks. But look forward to reading all about what happened in those weeks. I believe that you are all the best of the best so I don't think taking a course will make you better cause you are already at the top. Take care and be safe!!
