Beg, Borrow, Steal

Today I did something that probably won't sit well with the COC. In my defense I did do everything "by the book" and followed proper channels. However the proper channels were taking too long to get results so I turned to what the Army has taught us to do in such a situation: What-ever needs to be done to get the mission accomplished.

You're probably wondering what I'm talking about, so I'll fill you in. Regular readers to my little blog have most likely noticed that I do not have the best relationship with Public Affairs. In my opinion they move rather slow. For the last two weeks or so I have repeatedly requested guidance for posting on here and for sending material home to KIMT and the Globe Gazette. I'm still waiting for a response. I informed the COC of my situation but they have matters that are understandably more important to take care of at this time.

This afternoon I took the initiative to dig through some emails from about two years ago when I was going to embed with the 1/133 INF while they were here in Iraq. After a short time I found what I was looking for: the contact information for the media relations people that work for Central Command (CENTCOM). Sent a quick email to them explaining my situation and PRESTO! Fifteen minutes later I had a response informing me that the only approval I need for Human Interest stories is my company commander...who before we even left Iowa gave me his blessing to post generic/human interest stories.

Last I knew Central Command trumped Camp Arifjan, so once again I am "good to go" for posting video and other materials...not that I would ever post without permission ;)

Everyone be safe, I'll be gather story material.

Thanx for what you are doing for us back home and I'm sure that you are doing your best, and will be doing your best to keep us informed. My boy, Vicki's brother was a part of the 133 at that time and their web sight and information that was on that web sight was just great and I can't see how you could even get close to giveing out more secret information then what they did. So all I can say is go for as much STUFF as you can to send home to HELP US at home to help relieve OUR worries.
